Whites star Nicky turns the tables on fans

Bolton Wanderers Star Nicky Hunt DJ @ The Bar BoltonWANDERERS defender Nicky Hunt tackled a new crowd of fans at a top Bolton nightspot when he appeared as a headline DJ.

Hunt, who has a passion for music and loves mixing records in his spare time, was in charge of the wheels of steel at The Bar, Nelson Square, on Sunday.

He learned his skills on record decks belonging to Wanderers' team-mate Ricardo Gardner until, after many practice sessions, he decided to take the plunge and play in public.

Hunt headlined the Portuguese-African themed night and has now been given a weekly slot at The Bar.

He said: "I had a really good night. The staff there gave me a chance to do something away from football which I really enjoy, week in and week out.

"It's a fantastic night with different types of music. Something for everyone."

Rui Baptista, manager of The Bar, added: "Nicky did really well. "He was playing a lot of pop and R'n'B while the other DJs were doing more African music. It all mixed together well and everyone really enjoyed it."

Hunt said he developed his passion for music as a boy and would love to pursue a career as a DJ when his time in football comes to an end. He added that he has been influenced by a few of his African and Portuguese teammates, like El Hadji Diouf and Ricardo Vaz Te, who often play their favourite tunes in the team dressing room.

The sessions, at 7pm, feature African dance, percussion and vocals. Bolton Evening News
